 About

Originally from Madison, WI, I freaked my family out and moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1988. There I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts/Set Design from DePaul University Theatre School . This has been an advantage when it comes to visual storytelling and representing a brand on social media. I love to craft the perfect caption and set the scene for your audience.

After 13 years in Chicago, Bill and I moved the family west to Galena, IL. For six years I assisted the team at Vintaj as a Communications Specialist. Here I promoted their wholesale jewelry findings brand with social media, blogging and education (workshops). As a result, I learned how to make jewelry, connect with customers and I’ve had three articles published on jewelry techniques.

Next, my journey brought me to a job in tourism. I represented a popular tourist destination in northwest Illinois. It was at this county tourism bureau where I learned about transparency and government structure. As the Social Media Specialist for the Galena/Jo Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau, I became a key member of the marketing team. In addition to managing all of the social media accounts, I created content and featured visitors’ photos with their permission. I wrote blog posts and eblasts, edited photos and video and designed print material. Through coordinated efforts, the marketing team developed an award-winning website for the destination in 2016.

A few accomplishments include:

  • Facebook Page followers increased by 67% and reached almost 7 million people in 3 years.
  • Achieved an engagement rate of 1.75% throughout a 3-year span on Twitter.
  • Instagram followers increased from 0 to 2400, almost entirely organically. A fraction of those results came from Facebook & Instagram ads.
  • Successfully built one of the top tourism Twitter accounts in the State of Illinois.

Moving On

Most recently, my husband’s job brought us to the Philadelphia area. Since April 2017, I’ve consulted with the dynamic team at Xscape the Room in Media, PA. Xscape the Room wants to streamline their website and present a consistent message on their social media channels in order to make more sales. I’m also designing sets for the West Chester Studio productions at Uptown! Entertainment’s Knauer Performing Arts Center. Recent productions include Alice in Wonderland, Curtains and A Year with Frog & Toad.

I am currently the Communication Coordinator for the Prevention Research Center and the Ortner Center on Violence & Abuse in Relationships at the University of Pennsylvania. I promote the research and work of the centers, as well as connect with the communities that can benefit from their findings.

In conclusion, my work as a freelance artist has taken me all over the country for over thirty years. A variety of projects, using my skills in different ways has given me a broad base of knowledge to draw from. I know the challenges of small business and I’d love to assist you in reaching your goals.

“The goal of Brand Paint Media is to “paint” your brand across the internet using the voice you want to use to connect to your audience.”
